About Dr.Agulera

Dr. Mariela Aguilera is a highly skilled and dedicated psychologist and educator with expertise in school psychology. She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology and a Master of Education degree from National Louis University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Sociology from Saint Mary's College.

She is licensed and endorsed in school psychology by the State of Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of Health. She is also licensed as a Professional Educator with an Endorsement in School Psychology by the Illinois State Board of Education. Throughout her career, she has been an active member of professional associations such as the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).

She is currently an Independent School Psychologist and the Owner of Dr. Aguilera Psychological Services Group, LLC, a practice based in Chicago, IL. Prior to independent practice, she worked as a School Psychologist with Chicago Public Schools where she led the Problem Solving Leadership Team (PSLT), coordinated the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS), and oversaw the mentoring program for at-risk students. She worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Caring Community Counseling in St. Petersburg, FL and completed her School Psychologist internship at Leto Comprehensive High School in Tampa, FL.

As a practitioner, Dr. Aguilera is skilled in providing comprehensive psychological services to individuals, utilizing her expertise in psychoeducational evaluations. She is experienced in conducting assessments, providing mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and suicide/threat risk assessments. She has provided counseling services to individuals with various mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and conduct disorder. She also offered counseling to survivors of domestic violence and individuals diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

She is well-trained in administering assessment tools and measures in both English and Spanish, allowing her to effectively evaluate students' cognitive abilities, academic skills, social-emotional functioning, and behavioral patterns. She has a deep understanding of the linguistic nuances and cultural contexts that can influence assessment outcomes and interpretations, enabling her to provide a well-rounded understanding of each student's abilities and needs.
